KATHMANDU, March 5: The CPN (Maoist Center) has objected to the Supreme Court (SC)'s order to the SC administration to register writ petitions against the Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

On Sunday, the General Secretary of the Maoist Center, Dev Gurung, issued a press statement and said that the order passed by the joint bench of justices Ishwar Khatiwada and Hari Phuyal has drawn serious attention.

In an event held in Tundikhel on January 15, 2020, PM Dahal said that he would take responsibility for the 5,000 killed during the armed conflict. Advocate Gyanendra Raj Aran and others went to the Supreme Court with a writ demanding that Dahal should be investigated and prosecuted for that expression.

Earlier, the SC administration had refused to register the petitions stating that petitions based on political expression could not be registered.

But on Friday, the joint bench of Justices Ishwar Khatiwada and Hari Phuyal ordered the registration of the petition.

Similarly, a total of 14 petitioners, including war victim and advocate Kalyan Budhathoki, are preparing to file a second petition against PM Dahal.
