Raut’s Janamat Party registered at EC

KATHMANDU, May 21: After nearly  a month-long verification process, the CK Raut-led Janamath Party was registered at the Election Commission on Monday. With this, the party led by the former secessionist, has become eligible to contest upcoming elections.

KATHMANDU, May 21: After nearly  a month-long verification process, the CK Raut-led Janamath Party was registered at the Election Commission on Monday. With this, the party led by the former secessionist, has become eligible to contest upcoming elections. Raut, who had been carrying out secessionists activities in the southern plains,  renounced the movement after signing an 11-point agreement with the government in March.

Immediately after signing the agreement Raut had filed an application at the Election Commission, seeking registration with the election body. In his party's statute and political document Raut has expressed commitment to respecting Nepal's sovereignty and territorial integrity.  “As per a decision made by the Election Commission on May 20,  Janamat Party has been registered as a political party. The decision has been published in Nepal gazette as well. Congratulations to all,” Raut wrote on Twitter. 


The party had submitted all documents required for registration and presented a list of 35 names for central committee members, asking officials to verify the details before formally registering the party. In the party's document, Raut has mentioned that people's sovereignty, democracy, social justice and socialism are the party's core principles .
